Last month I traveled to Portland, OR with four other photographers to attend the Robert J Hill Mentorship Workshop. This 18-hour day was just one small facet of a year-long mentorship that has already taught me so much about my craft and my business. Full disclosure: I’ve never attended a photography workshop before. I’ve always wanted to, but there are SO many to choose from. I would spend hours agonizing over making the “right” choice, to the point that it was beginning to feel like to would be easier to just not make a choice at all. And, to be honest, no single workshop felt just right for me. But when I found Robert’s year-long mentorship, I knew it was the one. Four months later, I was standing precariously atop a seaside cliff photographing this gorgeous couple and feeling completely rejuvenated by all the lessons I had learned that day.
Of course, all great things must come to an end. I left Oregon with some incredibly talented new friends, a brain full of exciting ideas, and 32gb of amazing images I couldn’t wait to edit. Here are some of my favorites. Be sure to check out the behind-the-scenes snaps at the very bottom.
