When Taylor and Jace decided they wanted a romantic and classic engagement session in downtown Boise, ID, I was excited, to say the least. These two are native to Boise and came into their engagement shoot with a clear vision and idea. They wanted downtown and, more specifically, the perfect bar. Their chosen location, The Lively, a speakeasy-style bar with exquisite cocktails and atmospheric lighting, provided a unique backdrop that balanced both urban and outdoor elements. This plus their neutral-focused outfits made for a great shoot.
Boise City Engagement Session
We began at The Lively, where we crammed into a booth and chatted about life. I don’t always have the opportunity to take this time to get to my couples, but I love when I do. Taylor and Jace meet through a mutual friend, and hit it off quickly.
After we dug into our drinks and relaxed a bit, we went right into shooting. The owners at The Lively were so kind to let us monopolize some of their space for the beginning of the engagement session. The venue’s moody lighting, reminiscent of a bygone era, added a touch of intrigue and sophistication to their photos.
From The Lively to the Capital
While The Lively offered a unique backdrop, Taylor and Jace also desired to incorporate outdoor elements into their engagement session, ensuring a variety of captivating shots. The sun-kissed grounds of the capital building provided the ideal setting for capturing sunset moments that were both sophisticated and grand. Against the architectural beauty of the capital building, Taylor’s elegant mini-white dress beautifully complemented the surroundings, adding a touch of class and grandness to the photos.
Towards the end of the evening, Taylor changed into a more casual outfit and we continued to play. It gave a great contrast to the rest of the night, and allowed us to get a variety of poses.
