I said I was going to make a big announcement earlier this year, and the time has come. For four months this Fall, I’ll be traveling Europe with my boyfriend Zach! I can’t wait to be on the road, and I’m super stoked to photograph people in some ridiculously beautiful locations.

We’ve had to push this back a few times for a variety of reasons, but we finally realized that extended travel will never be convenient. There will never be a perfect time to sell all your stuff, leave your cat with your parents (sorry Mom and Dad), and live out of a backpack. But I’m so ready. Beyond ready. T-minus two months until this whirlwind adventure begins!

Above is an outline of our itinerary. If you find yourself in the same region as us, send me a note! I’d love to meet up.

Willows Lodge Wedding

Started 2016 off right with Julia and Paul’s Willows Lodge wedding in Woodinville. Willows has some freaking beautiful land surrounded by over one hundred wineries and breweries. Seriously, I can’t even.

Below are some of my favorite images from the day. Be sure to check out the adorable piggies in the garden and Paul’s matching socks! I’m so lucky I had the opportunity to document this incredible wedding. A few more images that you can’t find here are popping up on Instagram, so follow along and catch them as they drop!

Congratulations Julia + Paul!

Robert J Hill MentorshipOregon Coast Workshop

Last month I traveled to Portland, OR with four other photographers to attend the Robert J Hill Mentorship Workshop. This 18-hour day was just one small facet of a year-long mentorship that has already taught me so much about my craft and my business.

Full disclosure: I’ve never attended a photography workshop before. I’ve always wanted to, but there are SO many to choose from. I would spend hours agonizing over making the “right” choice, to the point that it was beginning to feel like to would be easier to just not make a choice at all. And, to be honest, no single workshop felt just right for me. But when I found Robert’s year-long mentorship, I knew it was the one. Four months later, I was standing precariously atop a seaside cliff photographing this gorgeous couple and feeling completely rejuvenated by all the lessons I had learned that day.

Of course, all great things must come to an end. I left Oregon with some incredibly talented new friends, a brain full of exciting ideas, and 32gb of amazing images I couldn’t wait to edit. Here are some of my favorites. Be sure to check out the behind-the-scenes snaps at the very bottom.

Monte Cristo Ballroom Wedding Seattle, Washington

SAM + CAMERON | WEDDING

When  I stepped into the Monte Cristo Ballroom, I knew it was going to be a fantastic day. The main hall had so much energy with everyone buzzing around getting the wedding details just right. Sam stepped into her dress in the light-filled bridal suite. Her images near the window are most definitely among my favorites.

I met Cameron when I moved to Seattle almost three years ago. He talked about Sam all the time, and finally mustered the courage to propose on a getaway to New York City right in the middle of Union Station! Check out their engagement session, it’s a good one. Needless to say, I was elated when they asked me to photograph their wedding.

The ceremony was held in front of the ballroom’s fireplace, and it was timed to end when the sun went down. Candles were lit all over the room as the couple was surrounded by their closest friends and family. There were many happy tears and I have to confess that I shed a few myself. Fun fact: I cry at almost every wedding I photograph. Don’t ask me to hold it together!

Following the ceremony, Sam + Cameron took the reception into their own hands as they visited every table to clink glasses, encouraged lots of laughter, and got the crowd chanting. That energy eventually made its way onto the dance floor, so be sure to check out those dance shots towards the end! And keep an eye out for the giant cut-out Sam made of her face for their photo booth. It was a huge hit and pretty dang hilarious!

CHEERS TO 2015 WEDDINGS!

Whoa. 2015 was epic. As many of my friends and family know, New Year’s Eve is my favorite holiday. This communal sense of renewal gives me more transformative energy than any other time of year, which is why I take the time every year to look back, reconnect with earlier work, and figure out how I want to evolve going into the new year. The weddings and people I had the privilege of working on truly have propelled my work into something I never thought was in store. You have inspired me to take on a completely new challenge. Keep your eye out for a big change announcement coming later this year that I’ll make when the time is right.

I still have a few openings for 2016 + 2017 weddings and would love to hear about your big day! Send me a note on my contact page and we’ll get this party started. Also, check out my most recent reviews!

Thank you to the wonderful couples and people that chose me to be their photographer. It’s not an easy task and I’m so grateful I was able to work with each and every one of you. The images below were created because you allowed me into your lives. So thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have the best clients!

So here they are; the best images from 2015. If you have a favorite or just want to say hi, comment below! I love hearing from everyone.

LeeAna + DanGeorgetown, Seattle Engagement

For LeeAna + Dan’s engagement session we explored the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle. It has a steampunk vibe with old brick buildings, abandoned tin structures, and dark basement bars that remind me of western saloons. The light was perfect and I literally could have shot all day.

Later, we went to a residential area where a man told us about this huge cowboy hat and boots leftover from an old gas station. Not going to lie, I didn’t believe him at first but was respectful when he told us to walk three blocks north. And there they were, smack in the middle of a neighborhood park. #keepseattleweird

Congratulations, LeeAna + Dan!

Frills and ThrillsSeattle Studio Editorial

My latest shoot is featured in the Beauty Issue of Elléments Magazine! Co-produced by the wonderful Alecia Lindsay who graciously carted all her studio equipment to my apartment. I ended up shooting with natural light from a window and Alecia worked with strobes. A link to her images will be here soon!

For this set, we tried to use see-through fabrics that incorporated lace and tulle with each look building upon itself. The talented Shyn Midili worked her magic by creating five different looks on Megan in two hours. She’s also an amazing photographer. You also can view a short behind-the-scenes video on my Facebook page (links below)!

As always, if you have any questions about set-up, styling, camera settings, be sure to leave them in the comments! I love communicating with my readers.

Lyndsey + ZachSeattle Four Seasons Wedding

Lyndsey and Zach married in the Four Seasons ballroom overlooking a rainy Puget Sound. It poured all day, but these two didn’t let that dampen their spirits. They reminisced with guests about Lyndsey’s childhood in Seattle. And speeches referenced their story’s beginning at Eastern Washington University. It was a wonderful and joyous event.

Bakery Nouveau made some killer Earl Grey macarons. Aria Style crafted beautiful floral pieces. And the Four Seasons made the most delicious cake while hosting a perfect day.

Camera Geeks: All images shot with a Canon 5D Mark iii and Canon 6D. Lenses: 35mmL, 50mmL, 85mmL, 100mmL.
